So, it begins.

A far away land that was thought lost to Tyrra has been found! A long hidden portal to Elimar, The Great Forest has been found by the great sorceress, Lady Ilyra Ravenwing. Will this discovery lay to rest the shadow of her father, Lord Aldric Ravenwing, a man obsessed with locating Elimar until he disappeared two decades ago?

Dear Damon,

It has been so many months since I last wrote to you. My deepest apologies for this oversight, I do miss you so! You see, I have been following up on a few clues that recently came into my possession.

Do you remember Martha Bridgewater? She was the daughter of Marion Stillwell, one of my father's servants. Dear Martha had a diary in her possession that was simply full of pointless drivel, but oddly had missing dates that corresponded to my father's disappearance. Along with the other diaries of the various staff, this one details the late night musing of my father, but this particular one also mentions accompanying my father on several early morning outings to conduct 'experiments'.

My dearest Damon, I do not think these 'experiments' were experiments at all! I do believe these outings were divining rituals that my father had devised in order to locate Elimar! With the sections of my father's works that I have, along with the descriptions in this diary, I believe I can recreate the actions my father took in locating Elimar.

Please come to Althur's Rest two hours before dawn at the next new moon. I believe that together we can safely follow my father's steps and finally discover what became of him!

With Love,
Ilyra

My Lady,

I have been very worried about your absence from court these past few months! Your letter has calmed my heart from fear of you sharing your father's fate.

I must decline your invitation to Althur's Rest as I am currently dealing with a very stubborn young noble that has thought it best to make me the target of his rude comments and remarks while within Count Leyton's notice. Please do not be hasty with your intentions towards the matter of tracking down your father lest you make the same mistake!

Perhaps we can discuss your findings over a fine vintage of wine at my villa in Oldcastle? I have some recent findings of my own to share with you. A colleague of mine, another of your father's apprentices, has located a third Star Well, one of the five that your father used to use. Perhaps a few divinations of our own can shed more light on what it was that your father was attempting.

Please, dear. Come home soon.

With Love,
Damon

Lord Damon Mandrake,

My Lord, it is with great regret that I must report to you that Lady Ilyra Ravenwing, and Sir Galfred Dirgewood were lost to us three nights ago. I want to assure you, My Lord, that I did not procrastinate in my reporting due to ineptitude. I waited to write this report until I was sure of the outcome of my investigations.

We arrived at Althur's Rest before midnight and struck camp at Lady Ravenwing's request in the foothills north of the main roads. Lady Ravenwing was most agitated, though she would not confide in me the reason for her distress.

It was before dawn when Lady Ravenwing began to gather her students in a furious manner. I learned later that she had been awaiting your arrival and had decided that she was unwilling to wait any longer. Lady Ravenwing and her students had located a nearby cave within the hills and sought to enter. I requested of her that she wait until my men and I had explored the cave to ensure her safety, but she rebuffed my offer and assured me that the adventurers that she had contracted would be more than enough security for anything that lived in the cave. with that announcement, she and her troupe entered the cave. I had my orders to stand guard at the entrance and escort you, Lord Mandrake, should you arrive.

It was just as the sun was appearing over the hillside when the earth shook and the cave bellowed a blast of fire that knocked the men standing guard to their feet. I was summoned with great haste and I immediately formed a rescue party.

We entered the cave to discover a massive and confusing system of tunnels. It was some time before we were able to track down the location of Lady Ravenwing's party. When my squad arrived the tunnel floors had begun to be covered in some strange thick green mist. Dembrick, the wizard that had volunteered for the rescue squad noted that the green mist was magical, but he was unable to identify anything specific about it. Undaunted, we followed the tunnel we believed to be the one that Lady Ravenwing's party had used. This lead us to discover a great swirling vortex of magic. My squad wizard advised me that the magical construct was an inter-dimensional gate, the largest he had ever seen. All around the gate we found bits of armor and weaponry, gear that Lady Ravenwing's party had in their possession when they entered the tunnel system. There were no bodies to bring back to life, only a few scattered outlines of char in the form of people.

We searched the area completely, my Lord. There is no sign of Lady Ravenwing, and Sir Dirgewood other than bits of singed cloth and brittle armour. Neither have resurrected at the earth circles in the Frozen Badger, nor has any of the adventurers that were with them.

A few of my men have resurrected in the last few days, the reason for my waiting to write you. From their descriptions Lady Ravenwing, Sir Dirgewood, and the adventurers had escorted the troupe through the tunnels with ease, locating the same great portal that I had found. Their descriptions of the magical vortex conflict a bit with my own experience as it seems Lady Ravenwing had altered the state of the vortex in some ritual. Lady Ravenwing had gathered her students and along with the aid of some adventurers, they sought to bring the magic of the vortex into harmony with Tyrra. The portal reacted violently to the ritual and the green mist that we had seen began to flow from the portal. Soon after, the cave exploded into fire causing the deaths of everyone involved.

I have ordered that a guard contingent stay here to ward away the curious until I can meet with you. I cannot stay in Harkem much longer, the local lords have begun to notice our presence and I expect that we will have some troublesome visitors if I do not return my force to Belimar. Upon our return, I will make myself available to you for any questions that you might have.

Respectfully Yours,
Lieutenant Zacks
3rd Lance of Belimar

Lieutenant Zacks,

You are to return to the site of the cave near Althur's Rest. You are to acquire the tavern located there by any means necessary, by my order. You are to secure the tavern, the cave area and the route to the portal. I shall arrive in three days to inspect your status.

Thank you, my friend.

ELDORRA SENDS A CALL FOR AID

My dear Goodmen and Goodwomen,

In the small Kingdom of Eldorra, we have suffered an immeasurable loss. Our Lady Ilyra Ravenwing has struggled for decades to learn the fate of her father, Lord Aldric Ravenwing. Lady Ilyra has uncovered a strange portal to a land that was long thought lost to the Eldorra. This land was known as Elimar when it was ripped from Tyrra centuries ago. Unfortunately, in discovering the portal Lady Ilyra and her party has gone missing.

I call to you, adventurers of Avalon, to aid us in our hour of need! We stand guard at the portal to Elimar, but politics prevents us from searching for our lost Lady. Please, answer our call. Help us find Lady Ravenwing and her party.

I understand that for some of you, the call for aid may not be enough to motivate you to answer our call. In that case, please consider that the land of Elimar is a great mystery to us. We do not know why it was ripped from Tyrra so long ago, we do not know anything about the land where Elimar is now located. In searching for our lost Lady you will have the opportunity to learn the secrets of Elimar, what mysteries and treasures could be recovered from centuries of seclusion!

I have ordered that the first expedition take place the morning of June the 20th, 615. Please make haste to the Kingdom of Harkem, and travel to The Frozen Badger within the area of Althur's Rest.

May the stars guide you true,
Lord Damon Mandrake
Kingdom of Eldorra
