Jan 2017 Plot Release
« on: January 12, 2017, 02:03:06 PM »
The adventurers have escaped from the plane of Elimar just as things began to begin their downwards spiral back to Tyrra.  Lands shifted, shimmered and vanished, soon to be replaced with new chunks of land, sea, sky, forest or desert!  Monsters and people began to chaotically  pour out of the eerie green mist as the chaos continued to exponentially grow as it shifted the lands.  The portal that once allowed Adventurers to travel to and from Shadowfall was becoming more and more unstable, the farther away the land wavered from its original position.

Luckily, many of the adventurers and other Tyrran natives that had forged themselves new lives within Elimar had no other choice but to flee back to Tyrra through the portal before it became too unstable, and eventually dissipated!  That being said, several lives were lost in the chaos as forces that were wary of the events to come began swarming through the lands in preparation for coming to new lands to conquer.  Sadly, many families were fractured during the mass exodus through the portals and the portal did destabilize before everyone made it through. Those that were left behind will remain in their families' thoughts.

Even with the few hours of warning Shadowfall had received from the adventurers returning through the portal, they simply could not have prepared for the cataclysm that wreaked havoc and destruction throughout the lands soon after.  The collision of Elimar back down to a body of earth that had shifted and changed over the centuries since it's departure was massive, and shook not only the earth, but also the skies and even the very weave of magic itself!  New mountains shot up from below, cracks in the earth ranging several miles erupted, rivers and lakes evaporated or were drained to fill in the new chasms made below, cities burned...  Elimar itself now lies as shattered fragments of land, decimated and strewn about by the impact.  We assume the worst for all of those whom call Elimar "home", as such an epic impact would have killed most, if not everyone living upon it.

The Shadowfall that we all knew is now no more, and it is being overrun still by the very fiends that were once taken from it's lands, and imprisoned in Elimar.  What is left, is a land thrown into perpetual darkness.

Winters in Shadowfall where always harsh on their own, but this year's has been the worst, by leagues!  After the cataclysm, many have died, if not from their homes collapsing upon them from the crash, or being swallowed up by the earth, then by starvation, cold or worse: Murder.  The people of Shadowfall have reverted to a desperate bunch, having to fight just to survive as resources are becoming even HARDER to come by nowadays (yes folks, our economic depression just hit a new low!), and between bands of looters and monsters raiding and pillaging everything they can find, our little kingdom is surely coming to its rather abrupt end...  Or maybe it has already ended, and we just don't know it.

Monsters of all sorts now roam the lands:  Most of them assumed to be spilling out of the impact site of the island, as Elimar was supposed to be a prison, of some sort (according to the adventurers that caused this), and lo and behold, in the name of hunting for treasure and gold, they decided to bring the prisoners locked away in the place right back here, so that forgotten terrors may once again, wreak havoc on our lands!

Worse yet, the darkness has overwhelmed EVERYTHING!  The days...  Even during High Noon, now pale, in comparison to days now long gone, and the night...  I shudder just to think of it!  Nobody that wishes to keep living travels, or even goes outside much during the night!  Monsters and terrors from the island come and go, but there is always a new constant:  The darkness!  It knows where you are, and it can always feel you...  Can always feel everyone!

Newcomers, beware!  If you take anything from this report, please let it be this:  Do NOT go outside at night!  The very darkness itself spawns these...  Fiends...  That attack anyone on sight!  They are horrific, and even the best-trained town guards have proven to be no match to some of these monstrosities!  No matter where you go, or who you are, they will come for you!  Even fire and torchlight are mere annoyances to these horrid beings, and new rumors have begun to circulate that these creatures have been sighted in the middle of the day!

These are the end times, truly...  May you spend your last days with your family, and when the Darkspawn come for you, may your deaths be swift, and painless.
